Well, it's September and we're leaving for our two week Cape Cod vacation early Saturday morning. It's perfect timing. We had a septic system back up on Labor Day, and a severe storm last night that knocked out power for hours. the humidity was atrocious and it was a yucky night trying to get to sleep without the ceiling fans. they say things happen in threes. we're hoping that's not true unless the third thing happens between now and friday night and we can get through it and move on to vacation time!!
we have a lot of things planned for the Cape and I'm sure we'll be taking tons of photos that i'll get posted when I get back. looking forward to this very much. we'll also be celebrating our first wedding anniversary on the beach with cupcakes and champagne.
What a year it's been.
See ya'll when we get back. Have a great September everyone!!

Devious Journal Entry
I came to my senses and came back to Deviant!
I just realized after opening my page for the first time in about a year that I really missed Deviant. and, I noticed that when I'm not on Deviant, I don't use my camera as much.
So, let's see how a new one year membership goes and if I get more motivated to use my two Nikon cameras. I think it will.
Hope to talk to some of my old friends again if you still follow me. I sure hope so. I missed you all!

Frustrated
I just spent 2 hours out in my yard trying to shoot the glittering snow we have on the ground. Shot pine trees covered in snow, a few tiny icicles...you know. Shot 142 frames and not one good shot. I always shot panoramic snow scenes in the past and really wanted to move to macro stuff, but holy cow is it hard to get what you see. Any advice? I was shooting manual and tested all the way from 2 to 11 ap and 100 to 6000 shutter speed. nothing looked good enough to edit. i guess i'll just be patient and wait for spring...
finally
I think I'm finally back in the swing of things. My husband convinced me to re-engage myself in photography, not only because I'm now retired but because he knows how much i LOVE having a camera in my hand. we did an excursion to Ohiopyle State Park last weekend. Wasn't really thrilled with what I got, but i won't get discouraged. I sure did miss being on Deviant though. Can't wait to learn the new site and get involved with some groups again. But most of all I'll be so happy to be talking to you guys again every day or so.
New journey
i know it's been a long time since i've written a journal or even been on DA, but i'm still around:)
My daughter and I are going forward with our wedding and portrait photography businesses, and I plan to be doing a lot more shooting soon.
I also may be losing my job this fall, so renewing my interest in my photography business and working with my daughter will be a good way to transition to a new life without the 9-5 job.
